Grammy Winners

Grammy Winners was a top story for this week. Here it is again: (antiMusic) We won't bore you with the pop, R&B, rap and other Grammy winners and get right to rock which actually outsells all of the genres that the out of touch academy (and TV programmers) seem to focus on. Though calling some of these "rock" is a bit questionable. But this is the organization that gave Jethro Tull a heavy metal award.

Metallica took home the best Metal Performance Grammy for "My Apocalypse," from "Death Magnetic." Hard Rock honors went to The Mars Volta's "Wax Simulacra." Alternative Music Album went to "In Rainbows" from Radiohead. And Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals went to "Sex on Fire" from Kings of Leon. Then Solo Rock Vocal Performance went to "Gravity," by John Mayer. (rock?)

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss won huge last night at the 51st annual Grammy Awards at Los Angeles' Staples Center. They snagged five trophies including album of the year for Raising Sand and record of the year for Please Read The Letter.

"We are thrilled and very grateful to everybody who is excited for us," Krauss said later."In the old days we would have called this selling out," Plant -- formerly of the legendary Led Zeppelin remarked. "But it's a good way to spend a Sunday."

Lil Wayne earned rap album of the year with Tha Carter III and best rap solo performance for "A Milli," among other awards.

Coldplay took him song of the year for "Viva La Vida."

A stunning upset was scored by Adele who beat the favored Jonas Brothers for best new artist. She also won for best female pop vocal performance for "Chasing Pavements."
